Tell me why.....

.... when I email my MP about something, does her secretary write back to ask for my postal address before they process my enquiry?

Obviously they want to check that I'm telling the truth about being a constituent. But why would I lie about it? And how do I know I can trust them with my postal address anyway?

It seems their position is: they don't trust me, but I have to trust them. Do they really work for us?

OK, I take it back. They're being very nice and friendly and helpful now :-)

I was going to say: depends on what you're asking about. IN some cases to do with local services, they may know councillors etc they can lean on.

Careful though: my partner wrote to local AM's about recycling collections, and one of them invited her to become a councillor....

No, it's not local, it's the single parent thing Pete. (See AHEd list.) I can't think of any good reason why they need the postal address for that. Can you?

They are asking the Secretary of State though and being very friendly now I've supplied it.
